When you field, you always want to keep your butt down and keep then glove on the ground.

Late swings lead to balls hit on the opposite side of the field. When fielding a ground ball stay low on the ball and keep your glove. Incase the ball takes a hop and bounces up it will hit your body and stay in front of you. Then you just make a nice easy throw to whatever base the play is at. The beauty of second base is you have the shortest throw on the diamond. This allows you to just throw it nice an easy and you don't need too much speed on it to get it to 1st base.
